Products, variants, and options

Create physical products, digital downloads, variants, selectable options, image uploads, and product SEO.

Product type

  • Use Physical product for anything shipped to the customer. Physical products need stock, package weight, and dimensions so shipping quotes can be calculated.
  • Use Digital download for files delivered by secure download links after the order is paid. Digital-only carts skip shipping.
  • Use Physical + digital when a customer receives both a shipped item and a downloadable file.

Variants

  • Variants are separate purchasable versions of the same product, such as size, color, material, or bundle level.
  • Each active variant has its own SKU, price, stock, optional image, weight, and dimensions.
  • If at least one active variant exists, customers must select a variant before adding the item to the cart.

Options

  • Options collect customer choices that are not always separate inventory items. Examples include gift wrap, engraving text, uploaded artwork, or add-on selections.
  • Select and radio options allow one choice. Checkbox options allow multiple choices. Text options collect short custom text. File options collect customer-uploaded images.
  • Option values can add to the price. Required options must be completed before the product can be added to the cart.
  • Sequential option selection is useful when later choices depend on earlier choices. It guides the customer through options in order.

Images and SEO

  • Use a clear main image for product cards and detail pages. Gallery images help show angles, colors, sizes, and use cases.
  • Variant and option images help customers understand what they are choosing.
  • SEO title and meta description are optional. If left blank, the product name and store defaults are used.
